If you are missing several or all of your natural teeth, dentures restore the ability to chew and speak and the appearance of a complete smile. They are also an adjustment: a new denture takes practice, most people need a few adjustment visits to settle sore spots, and a lower denture is harder to stabilize than an upper one because there is less ridge holding it. We would rather set that expectation now than have you think something has gone wrong later. If stability is the main worry, ask about implant-retained overdentures — they address exactly that problem.

Four kinds. Full dentures replace a complete arch. Partial dentures fill gaps when you still have healthy natural teeth. Immediate dentures go in the same day your teeth are removed. And implant-retained overdentures snap onto implants for far more stability than a denture resting on gum alone. We also repair and reline existing dentures. At your visit we help you choose what fits your smile, your bite, and your budget.
Yes — that is what an immediate denture is for. It is made in advance from impressions taken before the extractions, so it goes straight in at the same appointment and you never leave without teeth. The trade-off is that gums shrink as they heal over the following months, so an immediate denture normally needs a reline once healing settles. We plan for that from the start rather than surprising you with it.
Bring it in. Cracked plates, broken clasps and popped-off teeth are common and many repairs are straightforward. If a denture has simply gone loose over the years, that is usually a reline rather than a replacement — the jawbone slowly changes shape after teeth are lost and the denture stops matching it. A snap-in (implant-retained) overdenture clips onto a small number of implants rather than resting on your gums, so it does not rock or lift when you eat. The implant placement surgery itself is done by an oral surgeon or implant specialist we refer you to — Dr. Singh does the restorative side here in our Warren office, designing and fitting the denture onto the implants once they have healed. We are also glad to restore implants that were placed elsewhere, including years ago.
Getting dentures usually takes several appointments over a few weeks. We take impressions and measurements, you approve the look and fit at a try-in stage, and then your final dentures are made. We walk you through each step and give you a timeline at your first visit.
It is normal. Your mouth changes shape over time, so dentures may need periodic adjustments or a reline to keep fitting comfortably and securely. Regular checkups let us catch sore spots and fit issues early. You can read more on our Living With Dentures education page.
Rinse and brush your dentures daily with a soft brush and denture cleaner, take them out overnight to let your gums rest, and keep them in water or a soaking solution so they do not dry out. Keep coming in for checkups so we can examine both your dentures and your gum tissue.
