Tooth Extraction FAQ
Dr. Singh performs simple extractions up to and including the second molars right here in our Warren, OH office. When a tooth is badly damaged, loose from gum disease, or beyond saving, we remove it gently and, when helpful, place a bone graft (socket preservation) to protect the site for a future implant or bridge.
Wisdom teeth (third molars) are referred to a trusted oral surgeon rather than removed in our office. Because they are often impacted or close to nerves, they are best handled by a specialist. We are happy to examine yours, take X-rays, and coordinate the referral.
The area is fully numbed with local anesthesia, so you should feel pressure but not pain during the extraction. Most patients are comfortable afterward with over-the-counter pain relief and the aftercare instructions we provide.
A dry socket happens when the healing blood clot is dislodged too early. You can lower the risk by not smoking, not using straws, and following our post-op instructions for the first few days. Our Tooth Extraction Guide covers healing in detail.
